U.S. Magistrate Judge Debora K. Grasham recently participated in a "Robes in Schools" event in San Diego as part of a national magistrate judge workshop-training. Groups of two volunteer federal magistrate judges were paired up and assigned to high schools in the San Diego area where they lead an hour and a half discussion with students on constitutional rights. Students were asked to rank various rights -- a prompt to get them thinking about the Bill of Rights. Judge Grasham was teamed up with U.S. Magistrate Judge Derek Gilliland from the Western District of Texas to visit King Chavez Charter School in downtown San Diego. Pictured from left to right are Judge Gilliland, U.S. Magistrate Judge Gabriel Fuentes (Northern District of Illinois), King Chavez teacher Ms. Akiaten, and Judge Grasham.
