Idaho Court of Appeals Judge Amanda K. Brailsford has been confirmed by unanimous approval of the United State Senate to be the next Article III judge for the District of Idaho. After the President of the United States signs her commission, Judge Brailsford will take her oath of office and become the first female Article III judge to take the bench in the District of Idaho.
Chief U.S. District Judge David C. Nye has shared that “[w]e are excited to have a new Judge on board to aid the District and are happy to welcome our first woman as an Article III judge in Idaho. Amanda is an excellent advocate and has served Idaho well as an appellate Judge. Her unanimous Senate confirmation speaks to her judicial temperament and we are confident she will be a great federal Judge.”
An Idaho native, Judge Brailsford was appointed to the Idaho Court of Appeals by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter in 2019. Before her appointment, Judge Brailsford was a civil litigator in private practice for many years, both at a regional law firm and as the founder of a civil litigation boutique. She is a graduate of the University of Idaho, earning her undergraduate degree and her Juris Doctorate from the institution.
